Trans-Glacier Crossover β’ Gangotri to Badrinath β’ Extreme High-Altitude Himalayan Traverse
Kalindi Khal is one of the toughest high-altitude traverses in the Indian Himalaya, connecting Gangotri glacier system to the Alaknanda valley through a long, committing glacier corridor with the pass at ~5,947 m.
The route involves extended moraine fields, crevasse-risk glacier zones, snow plateaus, exposed ridges and continuous movement in thin air. This is a **serious expedition-style trek** where pacing, judgement, rope safety and acclimatization discipline are essential.
Camps remain cold, windy and isolated β vast silence, towering ice walls, and the intense feeling of being deep inside the Greater Himalaya. This trek is suitable only for highly experienced trekkers.
The trek begins with acclimatization in Gangotri before entering the Gangotri glacier system and upper alpine terrain.
